Wood you believe it…

… two blog posts in a row?!

It has been a somewhat quieter last week at The Askefield Project but still one filled with plenty of jobs!

Our week started on Monday (as they often do) and Chris was on sheep jobs, the first being to move the sheep from the big field to the corner field which went quite well. It was then time to break out the tractor (with its fancy new chair), hook it up to the topper and cut the big field. Liz and John were also on the farm, working hard in the garden and polytunnel (we will be getting some more garden pictures this week).

Then it was Tuesday and it was definitely a Toolshed day right from the off. In the morning, before setting up the barn, Chris and Ula were sorting Rishi’s Shed (named for the fact that most of the wood stored inside was from Rishi Sunak’s AI conference) in order to get some panels out for the Lancaster Bomber project. Once it was in the barn they had a look at the next scale section plan that Chris had made on Friday. It was definitely complicated but it is going to be something amazing once it’s all together! In the afternoon the Toolshed opened its doors again and there was lots going on with Hazel working on getting her drawers made, Denise was sanding and starting to stain her planter, and Maggie was carrying on with her medal box.

Wednesday was our Care Farm Day and it was a warm and busy one! In the morning, after the animals had been fed and poo had been picked, the big job was to fix the fences in the donkey’s fields as they had broken a number of planks all around the edge which took us all the way to lunch time, especially with Boris and Annie “trying to help” (getting in the way)! In the afternoon, Chris and our Care Farm Clients fixed the drinker by the feed store back into the ground, cleaned and moved the chicken house, all before breaking up some wood panels that are to be used in the Lancaster Bomber. Liz had also come down to the farm in the afternoon to water all of the plants in the garden and polytunnel, which was quite a job!

The last half of the week as a little quieter as Chris was finishing some jobs on Thursday, such as putting a new latch on the barn door so it doesn’t get thrown about in the wind, and then we were closed on Friday

We hope you all had a good last week and look forward to seeing you soon at The Askefield Project!!
