January
It has been a busy first month of 2026, with Farm School returning, pigs escaping, sheep moving as well as Chris and Gary taking up fencing (sadly not the sport) …
As it has been cold, grey, wet and even snowing, we are holding out until March before some of our projects start again however Challenge Askefield, our Care Farm Day and the Farm School have been going on strong throughout January! We had some great Challenges in the last month with the sleep masks being a standout (especially after how good the pictures were) and our Care Farm Day group have been busy over the last month moving sheep, fixing fences and making an entrance into the top field next to Buster and Clouseau’s.
January also marked the start of our NEW Askefield Book Club with the first session being really well received and attended. We look forward to seeing everyone again towards the end of February.
In the middle of the month, The Askefield Team and Directors met at the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa for a planning and strategizing away day. It was brilliant, with lots of amazing ideas talked about and a good plan for the year ahead. We have got lots of exciting things to look forward to!
The animals have all been their usual selves in January, although no donkey escapes (not that we’re complaining). We did however have a minor pig escape (due to someone not turning the electric fence back on) but she was just out sampling grass around the farm and very happily went back into the field when the bucket of food came out. In other animal news, Coco was treated to a new cat bed, although she has taken to sleep on it rather than in it!
So, there you have it, January at The Askefield Project
P.S. We may also have some Youth Club news to announce very soon…
