It’s show time…
I know, I know, a basic pun although it does work with last week…
We were back and busy last week as normal with Monday being a day full of jobs around the farm. Chris and Boyd were repairing some areas of the donkey fencing and fitting a new starter motor to the lawn mower; however, this hasn’t brought any life back to it yet...
Tuesday began as usual with the Puddlers on the farm, enjoying a morning feeding the animals, playing and trying lots of exciting activities in the barn. After the paints and rice has been tidied away, it was time to set up for the Toolshed! It was a productive afternoon with Denise working to get her planter assembled (it's getting there, the legs are on), Ian priming the doll's house, Carole planning the Lancaster Bomber project and Maggie continuing with her medal box, which is looking excellent. We also had a visit from Terry; it was amazing to see him back at the farm!
Wednesday was our Care Farm Day and after the animals had been fed it was time to move the sheep into a new field with some fresh grass, clean the chicken house and start an exciting fencing job in preparation for some new residents... It was quite a successful day, despite one spot of ground being particularly hard and resistant to a fence post! We also had our next Youth Club session in the evening and we had an amazing working 3D model of the Gravity Racer (with body), thank you Joel.
Last week saw the Early Years, Year 1s and 2s back at The Askefield Project for the Friskney Farm School on Thursday. They had a busy day, which started with animal feeding and poo picking before moving on to making seasons finger painting pictures. It was then time for a story and crafting emotion pictures using stickers and paint. In the afternoon they were making fruit kebabs, emotion shakers and using the interactive whiteboard to learn about life cycles, an exciting day indeed!
Then it was time for Challenge Askefield on Friday where everyone was using the air-dry clay to make drinkers for bees. It was a lovely and creative morning. The rest of the day Friday was focussed on getting everything set up for the Kerry Hill to open again that evening. Thank you to everyone who came, it was a really good evening with another excellent pub quiz!
To finish the week, we had one more event, the Friskney Show on Sunday! Thank you to everyone who came to chat to us, buy plants or have a look at the gravity racer. We had a great day and hope you did as well.
In short, last week was another excellent week at The Askefield Project and we hope to see you all soon!
