The Kerry Hill Pop-up Pub

The Kerry Hill began as a Pop-Up Pub night event at The Askefield Project back in June 2023 and was started as there had been no Pub in the village for about a year.

That first opening saw the farm completely transformed with the bar set up in the barn along with tables and sofas, the white tent was converted into an extra seating area and so was the log cabin (having only been finished a few weeks before).

We were amazed by the number of people who came to support the first opening of The Kerry Hill, and it quickly became a staple of The Askefield Project’s events!

The Kerry Hill opened a total of 4 times in 2023 with the bar now set up in the white tent and a great turnout at each, despite some poor weather conditions on a few occasions!

Then disaster struck at the end of 2023… our white tent was blown down and completely ruined during storm Elin.

This meant that there was some work to do before The Kerry Hill could open again…

After the loss of the tent at the end of 2023, we took some time at the start of 2024 to improve the site and make sure we did not lose another tent. So, we chose a tent that was rated to stand up to the weather and got to work assembling and securing the new tent with ground anchor bolts.

The Kerry Hill opened again in May, June, July, August, September and October of 2024 with the Pub Quiz being introduced in June. We also had a very special event at our final Kerry Hill of the year, the drawing of the Toylander raffle! It was amazing to see so many people turn up to support both the Toylander project and pub nights. The Kerry Hill community was really growing!

With the new white tent surviving the year, 2025 saw The Kerry Hill back and busy, opening again over May, June, July, August, September and October!

The Pub Quiz remained a staple feature across the 2025 Pub Nights and became incredibly competitive with talk of an unofficial league.

With 3 years of successful openings now under The Kerry Hill’s belt, the decision was taken that a more permanent space would be needed in the future…

The Kerry Hill has already been open 4 times already during 2026 with some exciting new additions.

 As 2026 was a World Cup Year, we decided to show the games on our new inflatable screen and, most recently, The Kerry Hill hosted its very first Open Mic Night which will definitely not be the last!

Having been awarded funding from the National Lottery Awards for All, which we are incredibly grateful for, The Askefield Project closed its regular projects over Easter to begin work on the new Servery, which has now become The Kerry Hill.

Over the last 4 and a half months Chris, Hannah, Mark, Boyd, Nick, Peter and the volunteers at The Askefield Project have worked tirelessly, alongside lambing, projects and events to work on The Kerry Hill, which is now close to being finished.
