Built in April 2007, this 72ft x 16ft polytunnel has recently received grant funding from The National Lottery Awards for All, for the materials to adapt our original design to one that can be used by wheelchair users, along with fund the crew room and sensory garden.
This development has involved complete construction of raised beds and potting stations which can also be used by people who are unable to bend. There is also a double skinned area for growing exotic fruits, as an income stream for The Askefield Project.
Our sensory garden is due to be completed in February 2019. The design will be based on an ammonite and will incorporate a seating arrangement around the perimeter which will also function as a windbreak. The planting will be based on a rainbow theme and will have a central memorial tree.
The clients and volunteers all contributed to the design by each researching and producing a design. The final design was a combination of everyone's schemes.
